Historical city with a lot of beauty and charm? Choose Prague!

On the 27th of December 2021 we chose to go on a romantic getaway to the Czech Republic´s historical capital, Prague. A trip full of beauty and charm!

Prague is known for its historical part of the city, like the Prague castle, the old town and the Charles bridge. What we also enjoyed was the outstanding nightlife with a lot pubs and bars. In this city you are guaranteed to have a fun night out.

The conditions at the time when we visited Prague, were a bit difficult, because it was in the middle of the global pandemic, but we made it anyway and arrived on the very day local restrictions were lifted. Back then, there were a lot of rules with all the COVID tests and wearing the correct mask and filling out documents like everywhere else, but lets not talk about the pandemic, that chapter is over and belongs only to the history books 🙂

In just 5 days, we managed to explore the entire city, by getting up at 8 am every morning to find breakfast spots and then move on to the exploring part.

What to see in Prague

There are so many things to see in Prague, but here are some of our favorites:

Prague Castle

Prague Castle from a distance

In the part of the old town you´ll find Prague castle. With its tall towers, beautiful mosaic windows and all the amazing details, this makes the list of must-sees. This destination attracts many tourists every year, and we understand why!
This is also the largest castle in Europe containing more than seven hundred rooms. It is possible to buy tickets online and on the location.
You can find more about tickets and the Castle itself right here.

Charles Bridge

Prague Charles Bridge

If you stop by the Charles bridge, we suggest that you try to cross it. Maybe its just a bridge that connect the Old town with Lesser Town, but actually it is so much more. Its construction goes all the way back to year 1357 and it took about 45 years to build it. This might scare you – will it fall apart? – but dont worry, we tested it by jumping on it, and it was solid 😉

Lets begin with the view from the bridge; you have a full view over the river Vltava and the other bridges that connect the city center. On the bridge itself, there’s a lot of musicians, painters, vendors and statues. No payment is needed for you to cross the bridge.
You can find some more of the Charles bridge history here.

Beer spa

Beer spa in Prague
Enjoying a bath with malt, yeast and hops, while drinking a cold beer from tap is a unique experience!

When we found this, it sounded too good to be true. For two beer- and spa-lovers like us, this was a weird dream come true. When we arrived, the first thing that caught our eyes was the draft beer in the middle of the room. We arrived 20 minutes before our appointment and the nice lady at the counter said that we should just have a beer and relax until our private room was ready. Don’t mind if we do 😉
The spa room was awesome, with its 3 spa barrels with beer taps on the side, a bed made from hay, a private sauna and a cold bucket-shower. For an hour we had the best time drinking beer and relaxing in the hottub filled with beer ingredients, as if we were making our own human-flavoured beer….
But be careful if you are going for this. You might end up a little drunk 😉
We recommend that you book it in advance, because it is a popular activity. Check it out right here!

Blue Wagon

Blue Wagon restaurant in Prague

If you want to treat yourself with a little luxury, we recommend you try this fine dining restaurant. This place has the most cosy atmosphere and really nice staff who know how to be polite and funny at the same time. This is a very good location for a date or dinner with friends. The food is colorful, well prepared and delicious and it really makes your taste buds sing. You can visit their website or you can book a table through trip advisor and see more pictures from the place.

Green Devils Absinthbar

Absinthe bar in Prague serving absinthe drinks

When the sun has gone down and the darkness has begun to take over the city, it’s time for drinks! This place is one of the most unique bars we’ve ever been to. You enter the place and it looks like a little absinthe shop. Look up and you´ll find some arrows that lead you into the building and down to a 140m2 cellar from the 14th Century. With its gloomy decor, small devils drawn everywhere and other scary nick-nacks, this might be the place for horror lovers and people who appreciate something a little bit different. When you pick from the menu, the waiter/waitress will bring down a little cart and prepare your drink right in front of you. Remember to drink responsibly and have fun 😉
Check the absinthe bar out right here!

Petřín Lookout Tower

Petřín Lookout Tower in Prague

The Petřín Lookout Tower is a steel framework tower standing 63.5 metres tall on the Petřín Hill in Prague, and it was built in 1891. It resembles the Eiffel Tower and was used as an observation tower as well as a transmission tower back in the day. Today it is only used as a tourist attraction.
This tower gives you the most perfect view over the city. You can choose to walk up the hill or pay for a funicular that will take you to the top. Once you get there, you have to pay to get into the tower. You can find prices and more information right here. But not only can you visit the tower. Right next to it, you´ll find a labyrinth but not an ordinary one – it’s a mirror labyrinth. This might be super fun for people in all ages. BUT! Be careful where you walk 😉

What else has Prague got to offer?

These are just a few of the many things we saw and did in Prague, but if you are more curious or hungry for information, send us an email or check out our gallery for the Prague trip. <3
